Be inspired by Provence's landscapes, villages and people under the guidance of an expert
Whether you are a complete beginner or you want to develop your style and technique, it would be hard to pick a more picturesque area in which to do it. It's where the light and colours have inspired so many artists, most notably Van Gogh, who is closely associated with nearby Arles and St Remy. With 5 half-day tutorials, or even during a shorter break, it leaves you plenty of time to explore the area and do other holiday activities whether you are here alone or with a non-participating partner.
Is it for you?
Whether you choose to learn in a small group of 3-4 people, or with one-to-one tuition, you will benefit from receiving individual attention from one of our English-speaking guest tutors during each 3-hour session. Whether you are a complete beginner or you have some experience, you will be encouraged to work at your own pace and level, in a fun and friendly environment. We will take you to a variety of locations to get inspiration and to sketch before you come back to perfect your techniques in studio and to work up your masterpiece!
Your tutor
Catherine Schmid (left) qualified from the University of Toronto before taking up posts in both Canada and Switzerland teaching Drawing and Painting. She has exhibited and sold her own work extensively in Canada, Indonesia, Switzerland and France. Having lived here since 1994, she is perfectly placed to introduce you to the beauty of the Alpilles area. Catherine will encourage your creativity and spontaneity and will challenge you to be more experimental while also helping you improve your basic techniques. Draw, experiment with watercolour, acrylics, pastels, coloured inks - or all the above!
